30+ years of brand strategy
My work history going through education, pre-Mata times through to today. Studied at AUT, freelanced at various studios, first full-time job at Terabyte Interactive, moved to Webmedia and then started Mata. Clients and contracts came with lots of connections creating amazing opportunities. After 18 years of design, I planned and later went on a year-long global sabbatical (2011-12), working and travelling the world as a digital nomad and then return home to start a family.

How Matt Allen started Mata Limited 2001
Learn about how Mata started, the name, the logo, the journey from beginning the business to present day. The name and identity formed before the company was even an idea, learn all about the leap of faith starting your own business. A mix of contracts and and adhoc client work created a wonderful journey. I have worked with some wonderful people, both colleagues and clients and part of talented teams who have inspired me and also given me some kind words in return.

One of the enjoyable things about design and development technology is the continual growth and capabilities.
